The ultimate rundown for new runners
Now, as we are getting ready for 2020 I always like to say New Year, New You. I have gotten mixed reviews from this quote and someone has even gone as for as saying "I hate when people say that." To me, that feels like someone who is afraid of change. From personal experience... there are many times throughout the year, I say to myself I wish I could change this, or I will start next week. Those are excuses and someone waiting for something better to come along. The sad news is that there may never be a perfect time to change or the right circumstance. New Years is the perfect time to make a change, because as a society we say "let's move on." The past is the past and the future is the present!
Over the past week, I have been reflecting on finding my purpose or in other words, the reason why I wake up in the morning. If you have not heard of this phrase let me explain. In my studies I came across cultures that statistically live to be over 100 years old and virtually free of chronic disease. I was even able to visit one region on the island of Ikaria Greece last May. These regions are know as the Blue Zones. Not only are these places located in beautiful mountainous regions of the world but all of the places share 9 characteristics. One of these being "Strong Sense of Purpose." It has been known that finding your purpose can add up to 7 years of life. That's incredible that we are able to add years to life just by knowing why we wake up in the morning. So I want to ask my readers, what is your purpose?
